Palm Sunday — Jesus Arrives
Matthew 21:1-10 · John 12:12-16 · Zechariah 9:9-13

Jesus entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey, fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9. Crowds waved palm branches and shouted, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!" The word "Hosanna" means "come save us." Jesus rode in with humility, bringing an eternal salvation.

Reflections
  1. What spoke to you out of these scriptures?
  2. How has Jesus rescued you?
  3. Why do we praise Jesus?
  4. How can you demonstrate praise to Jesus today?
Family Activity

Make green palm leaves using your own palms! Dip your child's hand in green paint and make handprints on paper in the shape of a palm leaf. Cut them out, glue onto craft sticks, and pretend to be part of the crowd on Palm Sunday!

Monday — Jesus Cleans the Temple
Matthew 21:12-22 · Psalm 8:1-2 · Isaiah 56:7

Jesus drove out those who were profiting in the temple, saying, "My house will be called a house of prayer. But you are making it a den of thieves!" God wants our pure worship and absolute devotion. Whenever we put something above Him, it may have become an idol that Jesus came to clean out.

Reflections
  1. What has your attention over God?
  2. What idols need to be overturned by Jesus?
  3. What do you need to purify in your heart?
  4. How can you show pure devotion to Jesus today?
Family Activity

Fill a glass with clean water (purity), add food coloring (sin). No matter how much water you add, it's contaminated. Pour it out, clean it, refill. Only Jesus can truly forgive and purify us.

Tuesday — Jesus Teaches
Matthew 21:23-27 · John 13:1-30 · Psalm 19:4

The chief priests tried to trick Jesus, but He used His words wisely through parables. He didn't waste words but always spoke to honor God and help those listening. The whole point of the law is for us to love God and love each other.

Reflections
  1. Where have you been reacting with words without thinking?
  2. How can you model how Jesus spoke to difficult people?
  3. What words need to conform to the way of Jesus?
  4. How can you use words to show love today?
Family Activity

Squeeze all the toothpaste out of a tube onto a plate. Then try to put it back in. Our words are like toothpaste — once they come out, they're hard to put back. Jesus was careful with His words.

Wednesday — Jesus Is Anointed
Matthew 26:6-16

Mary broke an expensive bottle of perfume worth a year's wages and anointed Jesus — the only anointing He received for His burial. Her bold act of worship confronted the culture and even enraged Judas. Mary reminds us that the only person who defines us is Jesus.

Reflections
  1. Why did Mary's worship affect Jesus so profoundly?
  2. How does culture interfere with our worship?
  3. How can you demonstrate love for Jesus through worship?
  4. What areas of your life do you need to allow Jesus to define?
Family Activity

Gather essential oils or perfume. Smell the fragrance together and imagine using it on Jesus' feet to show how much you love Him. How can you show your love to Jesus?

Thursday — Jesus Serves
John 13:1-20

Before the Passover meal, Jesus humbled Himself and washed the feet of each disciple — a job for the lowest servant. He did it to be an example for them and for us. Jesus didn't come to be served; He came to serve.

Reflections
  1. Why is serving others valuable?
  2. How can you serve Jesus?
  3. What are practical ways you can serve others?
  4. Pray for a heart that is willing to serve.
Family Activity

Follow Jesus' example by washing each other's feet. Go barefoot to get dirty first, then take turns with a bowl of water. Think of one way your family can serve someone this week.

Good Friday — Jesus Is Crucified
Matthew 27:1-56 · Mark 15:1-32

At the Last Supper, Jesus revealed a disciple would betray Him. Judas did, Jesus was arrested and crucified. He had the power to save Himself but didn't — this was God's plan. Jesus, who never sinned, took punishment for everyone's sin because He loves us. When He died, the temple curtain was torn in two.

Reflections
  1. What does Jesus' intentional sacrifice say to your present concerns?
  2. Why did Jesus choose to die on the cross?
  3. Is anything holding you back from giving Jesus your whole heart?
Family Activity

Make a cross from sticks or pipe cleaners. Write something wrong on it. Cover the cross with something red (paint, markers). The red represents Jesus' blood that paid for our sins.

Saturday — Jesus in the Tomb
Matthew 27:57-66 · Mark 15:33-47

"Silent Saturday" — Jesus' body was placed in a tomb sealed with a massive stone, guarded by Roman soldiers. The disciples were afraid and in hiding. But Jesus had said He would come back to life, and everyone waited, hoping His promise would come to pass.

Reflections
  1. How do you think the disciples felt after Jesus was buried?
  2. What feels buried in your life that only Jesus could resurrect?
  3. Why is it difficult to wait for God's promises?
Family Activity

Make props to retell the story: a craft stick for Jesus, two sticks for the cross, a toilet paper roll tomb sealed with a rock. Let your child retell the Easter story.

Resurrection Sunday — Jesus Is Alive!
Matthew 28:1-10 · John 20:1-28

The stone was rolled away, the tomb was empty! An angel said Jesus wasn't there because He was ALIVE! Death did not win — Jesus did! He appeared to the disciples and showed His scars. Even Thomas believed. Jesus is alive today! His resurrection is the promise of eternal life!

Reflections
  1. How did the women and disciples react when they saw Jesus?
  2. What have you been doubting that you can give to Jesus?
  3. What needs to be resurrected in your life?
  4. How can you celebrate Jesus' resurrection every day?
Family Activity

Make Resurrection Eggs! Fill 12 numbered plastic eggs with story items: leaf, cracker, pennies, string, fabric, toothpick, tack, two sticks, cotton ball, cloves, a pebble, and nothing — because the tomb was empty. He is risen!
